Softball DP/FLEX Lineup Card (Free Printable PDF)

  • By Julien Levadoux

Nine batting spots, a tenth line for the FLEX, a column to mark the DP, and columns to track substitutes and re-entries, so the scorekeeper and the umpire can follow every change. Not using the DP? Fill nine lines and leave the FLEX blank.

Using the DP: write DP as the position of the player who bats but doesn't play defense, and list the FLEX, who plays defense but doesn't bat, on the 10th line. Not using it: fill nine lines and leave FLEX blank.

How to fill it in

  1. List the nine batters in order with jersey numbers and positions.
  2. Using a designated player? Write DP as her position: she bats but doesn’t play defense. Put the FLEX, who plays defense but doesn’t bat, on the 10th line below the order.
  3. During the game, write each substitute’s number and the inning in the substitute column. If a starter comes back in, note the inning in the re-entry column.

The re-entry column is there because fastpitch rules limit how often a player may leave and come back. How the DP and FLEX can trade places, and who may re-enter, depends on the rulebook your league plays under (high school or a youth organization), so check your league’s rules before the game.

Print two: one for the umpire and one for the other team’s scorekeeper.
